SUMMARY
I joined Koolhaus Games to contribute to NBA Supercard, a card collecting and battling mobile game. As part of a fast-paced and multidisciplinary team, I worked to create new game events, cards, and UI updates.
user interface design
I had the opportunity to design the user interfaces for several in-game events such as Road Trip, a format where players compete for ranked rewards in progressively more difficult arenas. I assisted in creating wireframes based off of design briefs, and went through various iterations to polish the UI in regard to feedback. I was eventually responsible for creating the final in game assets, giving me experience with the entire UI process from concept to sprite sheets.
The debut of the Road Trip event broke game records for player participation as well as monthly revenue.

I also had the opportunity to design numerous logos, frames, and other UI assets for various events. These UI updates often involve communicating between the game design and animation teams, as well as ensuring the visual design reinforces player experience.
Maintaining unique and eye-catching visual branding for each event has been an exciting ongoing challenge as the roster of events grows.

As a card collecting game, unique and exciting card designs are central to the appeal of NBA Supercard. I have had the chance to create collectible player cards in a variety of different themes, from initial concept sketches all the way to creating the final assets for in-game use.

reflection
Working with a talented team of artists and designers has helped to push me to further my skills in both visual and UI design. Collaborating alongside 3d artists has also given me the opportunity to incorporate original 3d models and environments into my work.
As part of a live-service game, I have gained valuable experience in time management and working under deadlines. I am continuing to refine my technical art skills, and am currently learning more about creating complex sprites and UI animations.
