SUMMARY
I had the opportunity to work with the Digital Business Services team to create visual design and branding elements, front-end web pages for internal communities, and copywritten infographics. During this time I also held a role as Intern Communications Lead, where I utilized visual design and social media for event and workshop planning as well as running two of my own workshops on visual design and personal branding.
I also held a volunteer position as a UX / UI designer on DShop’s “E-Waste Bin” Team, where I conducted user testing, created user journeys and layout design. The team launched an interactive waste bin system that improved internal recycling sorting within the SAP Vancouver office.
reflection
As my first professional design role, I gained experience in self-directing as well as how to apply feedback to my work. If I had remained in the role, I would have loved to work more with the DShop team as the opportunity to contribute UX and UI for entirely new multi-media projects is a rare opportunity.
